In her first collection of poems, Sara Pirkle Hughes explores the role memory plays in shaping identity and a person’s perception of the past. The book’s title, THE DISAPPEARING ACT, posits that time is a magician causing every moment in a person's life to disappear, and every poem in the collection is the poet's attempt to recapture what has vanished, while also acknowledging the inherent paradox of writing about the past. The fallible nature of memory makes it impossible to preserve an experience free of distortion.

The late 1980s were a boom time for college basketball, and the Vanderbilt Commodores were right in the middle of it. Led by Hall of Fame Coach C.M. Newton, All-America center Will Perdue, and a group of three-point shooters known as "The Bomb Squad," the Commodores made their mark in the Southeastern Conference and challenged for the conference title in 1988 and 1989. Along the way, they played--and, often, beat--many of the game's national powers, including Kentucky, North Carolina, Louisville, Duke, Notre Dame, Indiana, Michigan, and Kansas.

SIDETRACKED is a series of stories which chronicle the zigzag adventures of two authors searching for a better understanding of their state. Milam Propst and Jaclyn White are good friends who enjoy the creative process, love to chat, dine, and explore out-of-the-way places.
Their initial plan was to trace Sherman’s March to the Sea and visit some of Georgia’s 3,000 plus historic markers along the way. While the journey would not necessarily spotlight the Civil War, Sherman’s path would provide them with a specific route.
There was one slight disadvantage to the plan. Neither of the writers have any sense of direction. Because of this, they got sidetracked often, made countless U-turns, and frequently found fascinating stories by accident.

An innovative book, WHEN FICTION AND PHILOSOPHY MEET explores the intersection between the philosophy of Simone Weil from Paris, France, and the fiction of Flannery O’Connor from the Southern state of Georgia, USA. In an era of war, of unprecedented human displacements, and of ethnic, racial, and religious fears the ideas of these two intellectuals bear on our present condition.

In this unique anthology, for the first time Bartram's Travels is joined with essays acknowledging the debt Southern nature writers owe the man called the “South’s Thoreau.” We hope this book will introduce a new generation of environmentally minded Southerners to Bartram’s timeless work, not only standing on its own but also interpreted through passionate, personal essays by some of the region’s finest nature writers. Rather than wallowing in nostalgia for the long-gone world Bartram describes, this anthology provides us with a starting point for reconstructing and reclaiming the natural heritage of the South.

Amidst a proliferation of scholarly literature about Islam in the United States, very little attention has been given to sports among Muslim Americans. While books about professional Muslim athletes can be found, this is the first book to investigate Muslim American sports at the local level, looking at Muslim basketball leagues, sports programs at mosques and Islamic schools, and sports events hosted by Muslim organizations.
Drawing upon personal interviews and observations as well as scholarly sources, this book demonstrates that participation in sports activities plays a vital role in strengthening Islamic piety and fellowship, and in connecting Muslims with non-Muslims in post-9/11 America.

Walter Rauschenbusch is credited by many interpreters as the fountainhead of the social gospel in America. An American Baptist minister of German heritage, Rauschenbusch was the “prophet” of a movement that created a watershed in American religious thought. This three-volume set makes available the original texts of a seminal thinker in an authorized and critical edition. Volume I contains reproductions of the original texts of the first “great book” of Walter Rauschenbusch, CHRISTIANITY AND THE SOCIAL CRISIS (1907), plus another popular work, FOR GOD AND THE PEOPLE: PRAYERS FOR THE SOCIAL AWAKENING (1910). Also included are shorter works, THE NEW EVANGELISM, Samuel Zane Batten’s defining tract, THE KINGDOM OF GOD, Rauschenbusch’s last literary works, select Rauschenbusch correspondence, and a hymn written in his honor.
