Richard H. Akeroyd

A native of England, Professor Richard H. Akeroyd served eight years in the Royal Navy during World War II, and in 1944 was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross by King George VI. He studied French literature at Oxford, the Sorbonne, and the Universite Libre. For nineteen years he was on the faculty at the University of Louisville, as profess of French, retiring in 1983, He is the author of eleven book, notably The Spiritual Quest of Albert Camus (1976), and translator of Madeleine and Andre Gide.
