The Phenomenon of Teilhard Prophet for a New Age by David Lane Teilhard de Chardin focused on evolution as the new perspective of the twentieth century. He and his supporters believed the Christian church needs to express its deeper truth concerning human destiny within that framework. The Phenomenon of Teilhard argues that in his attempt to graft evolutionary thinking onto Christian doctrine, he produced a perverse theological philosophical system of thought that strikes at the very heart of Christianity. This study contends that the synthesis he sought between science and Christianity is neither Christian nor scientific. Rather, it is a form of evolutionary pantheism garnished with snippets of extravagant speculation. He called the higher synthesis he formulated a new faith? the religion of evolution, and also referred to it as panchristic mysticism. This book exposes what the auther considers to be the serious flaws in Teilhard's methodology, worldview, and theological-philosophical speculations.
