Short Biography: Sam Pickering was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee. After college at Sewanee, with the exception of a year spent teaching at Montgomery Bell Academy, he left the South and began wandering, spending years in Britain, the Mid-East, Canada, and Australia. He has taught English for decades, the last three decades at the University of Connecticut.
